The drawers are simple to open and shut however I found the plastic's textured coatings a bit hard on my fingers.The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator has all the features you would expect from a refrigerator in this price range. It has Wi-Fi as well as app support, and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app, available for iOS and Android devices, lets you control your fridge from anywhere in world, and it has a ton of customization options. Its freezer temperatures remained constant at just above 0°F and never fluctuated by more than a fraction, this is crucial to prevent freezing burn. The fridge section of the fridge also performed well, reaching the desired initial set temperature within a matter of hours and keeping that temperature steady over the course of our tests.Bosch is known for its high-end appliances, so it's no surprise that this counter-depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance with the option of connecting to your home Wi-Fi and Bosch's Home Connect platform. Inside, the refrigerator has an ordinary French-door design with gallon-sized door bins on each door and two rows of spill-capture shelves and a set of more spacious drawers. The top shelf on the right can be folded in order to create more space for taller items. You'll also find a full width drawer for deli and an inside water dispenser.This refrigerator has a freezer with an ice maker, making it easy to transfer the frozen ice whenever you need it. The freezer also features clever design features, such as sliding drawers that allow you to sort your things. It has a large bin for storing frozen food, and a separate bin for ice.Another great feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. You can control the temperature, lighting and other aspects of your refrigerator from your smartphone. It's a great way to control and monitor your refrigerator, especially if you're away from home.However, while the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it doesn't necessarily add to the overall performance of the refrigerator. In fact it took longer to defrost and chill food in this fridge than other refrigerators we tested. This is likely due to the bigger capacity.The doors pose a problem with this refrigerator. The sunken handles let shorter people open them from the bottom. However taller people will have a difficult time closing them without slamming them. It would have been more effective if they had handles mounted on the front.The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is an excellent choice for those who want to combine the look of a French door refrigerator with an efficient design. It has a capacity that is superior to counter-depth models and also cools evenly. It's also a bit cheaper than the best counter depth refrigerator that comes with an icemaker, which makes it a great choice.Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door RefrigeratorThis Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a good choice for those looking for a French-door fridge that doesn't break the budget. It's a simple fridge that might not be as appealing like some of its competitors however, it does have enough features to make it a good choice. Its most important feature, the adjustable temperature drawer helps to keep food items like vegetables and meat fresher longer. It also has a large ice maker and a water dispenser.Another nice feature is the "Chill Drawer" that sits above the two crisper bins. The drawer allows you to divert some of the refrigerator's cooling power directly to this area, so you can keep food items that require extra attention. This feature is adjustable using a slider located outside the drawer. You can also alter the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've found that the generic settings are more effective than the specific ones.In my tests, the refrigerator's temperatures were fairly constant across the different areas of the fridge. Temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge did not vary significantly from 38 degrees, and even the middle of the fridge was within one degree of 36. That's a good performance, but it doesn't quite be among the top in our ratings.This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also connect this fridge to a smart thermometer to get more precise measurements of your fridge's temperature.The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's exterior is made of grey-bodied stainless steel which has a "smudge-proof" finish.
