World of Warcraft Item UpgradesItem upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.Item LevelWhen an item is upgraded, its base stats improve in value. This value is the total of all of its upgraded benefits (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive dependent on who you employ and what you decide to do. This is due to the fact that many perks have to be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded. The level of an item is a commonly used measure of power, and is visible on all item tooltips. It also serves to limit how much PvP gear players can wear as PvP is restricted at lower levels. item upgrade can view their average level of items on their character sheet. When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment players can look at the level of an item. It's a useful gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it's capable of dealing with. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor can be done using the item level. The item level can be checked by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat. There are many theories about how the item level is calculated. One theory is that the item level is a number derived from a formula that determines the value of an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration the fact that different perks have different values and that gems in sockets add to the item's overall value. This could result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is often very close to Blizzards actual level of the item. However, this is not the only factor that determines the ilvl of an item, because the level of the region the item was dropped in could change the value of its stats, such as by adding an additional level to its crit rating or haste rating. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have a higher ilvl.Item StatsThe item's stats can make or break an item for players. The game makes use of them in various ways to encourage players not to restrict themselves to a particular weapon, and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The base stats on a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modification, which are themselves enhanced by the player's level.Upgrades to an item may boost its stats. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. A white or grey item for instance, can only be upgraded once and items that has rare tiers can be upgraded several times at more expensive costs.Affixes can also be used to alter the stats of an item. item upgrades are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and are available in all shapes and sizes. The affixes can provide the item additional damage, add a special capability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing the cooldowns), or make the item unique by adding an additional name to the item. All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold as well as items that can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other options for rerolling.Players can upgrade an item by a specific stat or reroll the affixes. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the level of the item, but every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within the range, unless it is an exclusive item or the result of a God roll from a boss in a raid. This is another aspect that can be modified by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or choosing which stats to increase. But, like base equipment, this would have to be performed on a per-item basis and the item compare interface will not show all the stats that could be either lost or gained at the same time.Item LuckThe Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the odds of finding items as well as the properties that appear on loot drops and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player a chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game and is therefore more useful in the initial game run than later ones because most players value greater weapon scaling and defense over the raw damage gain.In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance that increases with each item level and can be further increased by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing. The shields, armor and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.Certain items, like the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be crafted to increase the damage dealt by any skill that causes damage by five percent. These items can be found in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients.Item FailureNot all upgrades are successful. However, there are cash shop items which allow players to increase their success rate or prevent them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade fails. The rate of success of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading that item, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased as much, and the chance that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.The luck of an item can affect the success of an upgrade. Each item has an average success rate of 25% and every item with Luck increases that chance by an additional 5percent.The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above the items in the inventory. This may block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
